I repeat what I wrote on that page just below the quote you take issue with:

"If you just like to read, that's fine. I got nuttin' against learnin'. But reading more and more and more won't get you to a decision. Judgment is required to properly balance Perception. So take a risk; make a decision; seek closure! Perhaps pick a code and simply try committing to it for a while to see whether the shoe fits over time. You can always change your mind later."

I get emails from people all the time who have read and read and read all they can lay their hands on about type, and yet they still don't know their own type preferences.

So maybe it's just MY pattern speaking here, but what's the point of that? I start to get suspicious about whether they're just reading all this stuff in order to stall, procrastinate, or otherwise avoid something they ought to be dealing with.

Inasmuch as it can be an achilles heel for some people to make decisions too quickly, it can as well show up as an achille heel for other people to never commit to making any decision at all.

This is what the quote is meant to highlight -- not to criticize anyone for learning.

As Isabel Briggs-Myers stated, the purpose of learning psychological type is to help us increase the quality of our perceptions in order to improve our decisions.

I'm simply inserting a piece of accountability around "decisions." I'm hunting for a commitment, even if it's only temporary.

Providing you with adequate information so you may DECIDE on your best-fit type preference is the stated purpose of this website, so I'm holding true to that vision.

Okay :P, I've finally came to a decision between INFJ and INFP... INFP... what finally made me decide? well... after you said its not uncommon to be directing with your family even if you have informing... Well the times I've seen myself directing... it wasn't pretty at all, as noted by how many Damn Kevin you're cranky comment associated with it. But when I'm calm... its as if I'm just making noise to them. I Definately don't plan everything out in advance.. I just have a basic plan that Loosely sets my week. And while I Do give compliments... they do feel rather.. ungenuine. And I do seem to come up with alot of possibilities for what Might happen.. so much that my friends have trouble surprising me with anything, but I don't really plan for them unless its important. And any advice I have given tends to go as follows... "Okay this is what you can do... there are several things you can choose from that would accomplish what you're going for...you can do this.. you can do that.. or you can do the alternatives..." So yea! INFP it is.
