Is this an issue with INTJs, too? I have an INTJ friend who I've never seen in a vulnerable position. Ever. She always seems to know just what to do or how to act and is confident she made the right decision.
But with me -- I think I really am quite vulnerable, but afraid to show it. Could that be INFP?
I wonder how you "come off." Might you ask your INTJ friend? What I notice is that INFPs sometimes seem so vulnerable that I'm careful about hurting them, whereas IN_Js seem bulletproof, and sometimes people punch them with the idea that "it won't hurt them," or "they deserve it."
Isn't that the truth! I'm INFJ and I guess my vulnerability is less obvious than with INFPs. I wish that it wasn't, though...maybe people would be nicer!

But befriend one to the point that they trust you with what is on the inside and then see what really goes on when a fist flies in.
